Description of Event:
The San Diego Chapter of AWIS is having its bi-annual Open
House Event on July 25th. As part of the Open House Event, the San Diego
Chapter is sponsoring a workshop on Networking. What is networking? Why is
it important? How do you learn to "network"? Come learn the answers to
these very important questions. Something as simple as "networking" can be
instrumental in helping you to reach your career goals. To register for
the workshop please click here (will appear in a different window).
The free workshop on networking will be conducted by Ms. Swanie
Schmidt, who with a Bachelor of Science in Education and Psychology, is
known as a professional in the fields of Training, Management, and
Employee Development. For over fourteen years, Ms. Schmidt has been a
catalyst for change, selling and delivering training solutions that impact
individual, organizational, and business performance. She is consistently
recognized for her enthusiasm, creativity, and dedication to building
future leaders.
In addition to learning about networking, you will have the opportunity
to meet the local chapter leaders. Come meet the Board members in their
new roles, the active committee volunteers, and find out about the various
committees you can get involved with. If you are new to AWIS or just
discovering that there indeed exists a professional women's association,
come find out what the San Diego Chapter of AWIS is all about! What is
AWIS? What can you gain from membership in AWIS? How can AWIS help you
personally and professionally?
A professional women's association can function at many levels. One
basic level is to offer support, guidance, an opportunity to mentor or be
mentored, connections to new careers and even new paths in life. AWIS
membership consists of a diverse group of women whose common thread is an
interest in science, math, and engineering. Seize this opportunity to meet
and connect with other extraordinary women in your community. Who knows,
it may lead you to a new career or you may serve to be the catalyst for
change for someone else!
For more information on the Open House/Networking Workshop event or
membership to AWIS San Diego, please contact Anjali Kansagara at anjali@zety.com
or Susi Jennings at sdawis@sd.rr.com.
