AWIS-San Diego is committed to supporting the advancement of women in science and science-related fields by providing opportunities to participate in professional networking, mentoring, and leadership activities.

  Advantages of Joining AWIS:  
 
  • AWIS is a national organization with over seventy chapters, allowing continuity for members who are relocating and opportunities for a national network of women in science-related fields.
  • AWIS-National is politically active and provides opportunities for members to be informed about, and active in, issues relevant to the status of women in the sciences.
  • Membership to AWIS is affordable and easily accessible to women in all areas of science, including students.
  • AWIS-SD provides networking opportunities through regularly scheduled events and by participation on active committees.
  • AWIS-SD provides opportunities for active members to take on leadership roles within the chapter and within AWIS-National.
  • AWIS-SD provides forums that deal with a variety of issues important to women working in the sciences, e.g., balancing work and family life, maternity leave issues, harassment and discrimination, and women's perspectives on science and science-related issues.
