Outreach Co-Chair: Jeannine Stuzka | |
| Jeannine was always curious as a young girl, and discovered how to channel that curiosity as an undergraduate at the University of Albany, SUNY in the laboratory of Jacquelyn Fetrow. Her undergraduate research project was to model and analyze the structure of SSAP, a DNA binding protein. After earning her B.S. in Biology in 1996, she attended Albany Medical College, to pursue an M.S. degree in the laboratory of Michelle Lennartz. For her thesis, she came out from behind the computer and went to the bench to study signal transduction during IgG-Mediated Phagocytosis. After earning her M.S. in 1998, Jeannine packed up herself, and her cat, and moved cross-country to be the first employee at a San Diego Biotech start-up. Since then, she has adopted a second cat, worked as a teacher, and an Application Scientist at a second San Diego Biotech Start-up. It was in 2004 that she became an active member of the AWIS Outreach Committee, using her passion for science to show other curious girls how to channel their talents. Click here to email her. | ||
