Bi-Annual Open House Event

The San Diego Chapter of AWIS is having its bi-annual Open House Event on September 4th. Come join us for an evening of fun, laughter and learning. Find out what AWIS San Diego can offer you, network with biotech professionals, enjoy free food and entertainment. The feature of this year's Open House will be a workshop by professional improvisationalist Milo Shapiro of improVentures entitled "You Gotta Fail... To Succeed!" In every career, and perhaps especially in a science career, you will face failures. Come learn how to turn these failures into opportunities that will help you reach your career goals! Bring a friend, get a shopping spree! Bring your non-AWIS guest to the registration table to enter our raffle. We will award three $50 and one $100 gift certificates to the Westfield Shopping Mall. If you are both non-AWIS each of you can enter.

In addition to the workshop, you will have the opportunity to meet the local chapter leaders. Come meet the Board members in their new roles, the active committee volunteers, and find out about the various committees you can get involved with. If you are new to AWIS or just discovering that there indeed exists a professional women's association, come find out what the San Diego Chapter of AWIS is all about!

A professional women's association can benefit members in many ways. Active AWIS membership can offer support, guidance, an opportunity to mentor or be mentored, connections to new careers and even new paths in life. AWIS membership consists of a diverse group of women whose common thread is an interest in science, math, and engineering. Seize this opportunity to meet and connect with other extraordinary women in your community. Where: The Salk Institute Frederic de Hoffmann Auditorium, free parking
Registration: All attendees must register for this free event.

Directions: From I-5, take the Genesee Drive exit and head west. Drive uphill and through two traffic lights moving into the far left lane. Turn left at the third light onto North Torrey Pines Road. Drive south 1/8 mile along the UCSD campus and The Institute will be on your right. Visitor parking is available in the front lot located between Torrey Pines Scenic Drive and Salk Institute Road. Additional parking is available just west of the Institute on Torrey Pines Scenic Drive.
