| Mission Statement: The Outreach Committee of the San Diego chapter of AWIS is dedicated to nurturing and educating girls and young women interested in science and science-related fields. Our primary goal is to teach young women that they all have the ability to enjoy and succeed in the areas of science, math, engineering, and technology. Most importantly, we aim to demonstrate to young women that science is fun! Volunteer Opportunities: The Outreach Committee has a number of volunteer opportunities throughout the year. Most events involve presenting hands-on science activities/demonstrations or career information to elementary through high-school aged girls and young women, or judging at the Greater San Diego Science and Engineering Fair.
